Elizabeth: "Why I Called Ann Coulter"

I received this email from the John Edwards campaign.
I think Elizabeth's words speak eloquently and I have little to add.

<>Last night I had an important talk with Ann Coulter and I want to tell you what happened.

On Monday, Ann announced that instead of using more homophobic slurs to attack John, she will just wish that John had been "killed in a terrorist assassination plot."<>

More below the fold.

Coulter Hopes Edwards Gets Assasinated

From an email message sent out today from Joe Trippi and the John Edwards campaign.

"Yesterday, Jonathan told you that the folks who benefit from the status quo are attacking John personally because they don't want the country to hear his message.

"And you know what happened when we called them out? The attacks started pouring in.

"That same day, the Ann Coulter-wannabe Michelle Malkin blasted John on her blog. Fox News has been bashing him around the clock. And Coulter herself said, "if I'm going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I'll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot."

Obama bio cites hidden '02 agenda

I saw this story referenced on the cnn.com political ticker this morning.  I followed the link to the Chicago Tribune.  I'm not sure what to make of it.

The Chicago Tribune story today is based on an upcoming biography about Barack Obama.  The book, by a Chicago Tribune reporter, portrays Senator Obama's 2002 speech against the possible invasion of Iraq to have been based, at least in part, on a desire to influence a big contributor to get support for his candidacy for the Senate. The book claims that Obama is much more of a politician than some of his supporters may wish to believe.

"One such calculation was his much-heralded 2002 speech in Chicago about the impending Iraq war, according to "Obama: From Promise to Power," a nearly 400-page book by Tribune reporter David Mendell to be released in August."

John Edwards' Plan against Terrorism

During the debate, John Edwards said the GWOT was a political bumper sticker, a slogan used to sledgehammer opposition and justify Bush's worse abuses.

Today John Edwards outlined his plan to keep Americans safe and fight terrorists.

"For six years, George Bush has used the language of terrorism to force through an ideological agenda that undermines our values and does nothing to undercut terrorism," said Edwards. "By the Bush Administration's own admission, we are less safe today. We need a smart national security strategy to shut down terrorists, not a cynical political strategy to shut down debate. As president, I will strengthen our military to better address the threat posed by terrorist groups, and launch a sweeping global effort to ensure that terrorism does not take root in weak and failing states."
